0817 ET - Bank of New York Mellon is entering the new year with optimism that Donald Trump's presidency should lead to pro-growth policies that boost the bank's performance, CEO Robin Vince says on a call with reporters. A pro-growth stance should translate to higher capital market activity, which bodes well for the bank's top line, Vince says. There is a little bit of uncertainty on the horizon from questions around Trump's threatened tariff policy and how that will ultimately play out, the CEO notes. But the U.S. economy has strong momentum coming out of the fourth quarter, he says. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
