From style perspective, value companies underperformed their growth counterparts during the quarter, with the Russell 2000 Value Index returning -1.06% while the Russell 2000 Growth Index returned 1.70%. In the fourth quarter, the strategy delivered a return of -0.46% net of fees (-0.31% gross of fees) underperforming the Russell 2000 Index’s 0.33% total return. (NYSE:SUM) is a vertically integrated construction materials company. The one-month return of Summit Materials, Inc. (NYSE:SUM) was 3.35%, and its shares gained 43.62% of their value over the last 52 weeks. On January 17, 2025, Summit Materials, Inc. (NYSE:SUM) stock closed at $52.19 per share with a market capitalization of $9.176 billion.

"Summit Materials, Inc. (NYSE:SUM), a North American supplier of aggregates, cement, and ready-mix concrete for the construction industry, announced in November a definitive agreement to be acquired by Quikrete Holdings, Inc. totaling approximately $11.5 billion, including debt at a 30% premium with an expected close date within the first quarter of 2025."
