Rio Tinto (RIO) said late Thursday its Q1 iron ore shipments will be impacted after Tropical Cyclone Sean disrupted rail and port activities in Western Australia.
A railcar dumper at the East Intercourse Island port site was inundated due to the cyclone, with initial indications suggesting it could remain offline for three to four weeks, the company said.
"Recovery works within the broader Iron Ore system are progressing, with the majority of rail and port operations now returned to operations," Rio Tinto said.
The company's overall shipment outlook for 2025 is not impacted, it said.
