Rekor Systems (REKR) said Tuesday it will combine its vehicle recognition software with SoundHound AI's (SOUN) voice and conversational artificial intelligence to enhance emergency vehicle technology.

Rekor said its collaboration with SoundHound will deliver hands-free functionality for automatic license plate recognition and other critical vehicle systems to improve safety, situational awareness and operational efficiency for law enforcers and first responders.

The collaboration's initial focus will be on police vehicles, with plans to expand the audio visual AI technology to fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles, Rekor said.

Shares of Rekor advanced 5% and SoundHound rose 5.3% in recent trading.
