Costco Wholesale (COST) is facing pressure from 19 Republican state attorneys general to abandon its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, news outlets reported Tuesday.
The state prosecutors warned in a letter to Costco Chief Executive Ron Vachris that his company was doubling down on policies that risk violating federal law, Reuters reported.
They demanded Costco notify states within 30 days whether or not it will repeal its diversity rules, Reuters said.
The letter came days after Costco shareholders overwhelmingly voted to refrain from commissioning a report on the risks of its DEI policies.
Costco did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
