Honda Motor's (HMC) American Honda unit said Wednesday it will recall about 295,000 Honda and Acura vehicles in the US over a fuel injection unit issue that could cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The company said owners of the affected vehicles will be asked via mail in March to take their vehicle to a dealer for a free update of the fuel injection electronic control unit, or FI-ECU, software.
"Improper programming" of this software "could cause the check engine light to illuminate and cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate and/or stall," American Honda said in a statement.
The recall affects 2023-25 Honda Pilot, 2022-25 Acura MDX Type S, and 2021-25 Acura TLX Type S vehicles, American Honda said, adding that it hasn't received confirmed crash or injury reports related to the issue.
