The cumulative installed capacity of China's renewable energy reached 1.89 billion kilowatts in 2024, up 25% from the previous year, according to data from China's National Energy Administration.
This accounted for 56% of the nation's cumulative installed capacity, marking a new record high and the second year that renewable energy made up more than half of China's total installed capacity.
Renewable energy generation also rose 19% year over year to 3.46 trillion kilowatt-hours in 2024. This accounted for about 35% of the total electricity generated in China.
