Technology stocks were advancing in early trading Friday as the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) was up 1.3% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) was 2% higher recently.
Apple (AAPL) shares rose 1.8% in early trading after it reported higher fiscal Q1 earnings and net sales late Thursday.
KLA (KLAC) shares were up 2.6% after it reported higher fiscal Q2 non-GAAP diluted earnings and revenue late Thursday.
Poet Technologies (POET) said it has signed a deal with a global capital markets firm to develop an optical engine for use in an automated high-frequency securities trading operation. The company's shares rose 10%.
