Treasurer Jim Chalmers has mounted a final push to pass legislation to increase the tax on superannuation accounts worth more than $3 million, by linking it to unrelated but popular measures targeting compulsory credit card and debit card surcharges.
To pass the super bill, the government needs the Greens plus three other Senate crossbenchers and, as of Tuesday morning, most of the focus was on Tasmanian independent Senator Tammy Tyrrell who was being lobbied heavily.
