Pfizer's (PFE) Biohaven agreed to a nearly $60 million nationwide settlement for submitting false claims to Medicaid and other government healthcare programs, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said Monday.
The settlement resolves allegations that Biohaven engaged in a kickback scheme from 2020 to 2022, offering cash and gifts to healthcare providers in exchange for Nurtec prescriptions, according to the Bonta.
Pfizer will make the payment of $59.7 million plus interest on behalf of Biohaven and it will be shared by the federal government and several states including California, whose share is $413,776, the state's Attorney General added.
Neither Pfizer nor Biohaven immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
