SkyCity Entertainment Group (ASX:SKC, NZE:SKC) will pay AU$38.1 million in total to the Treasurer of South Australia to settle its long-running casino duty dispute, the company said in a Friday Australian bourse filing.
The company will be required to pay AU$13.1 million in additional casino duty and AU$24.8 million in interest as well as AU$200,000 of the Treasurer's costs, per the filing.
The dispute involved the treatment of loyalty points being converted to machine gameplay for calculating casino duty, the filing added. The payment covers casino duty return periods from January 2014 to January 2024.
