Cullen Resources (ASX:CUL) identified gold prospects at the Yardilla gold project in Western Australia, characterized by substantial gold-in-calcrete soil anomalies, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The project contains the significant Lila and Cleanthes gold prospects, defined by gold-in-calcrete soil anomalies over 14 parts-per-billion to 86 ppb grade of gold from historical, systematic exploration.

Other historical exploration outlined gold soil anomalies at Lila and Lila West, using a mobile metal ion assaying method, and at the Ten Mile Rocks prospect using bulk leach extractable gold of drainage samples.

Cullen Exploration, a wholly owned unit of Cullen Resources, applied for the adjoining ground to its tenement in Western Australia, which is not part of the option-to-purchase.

The unit is in talks to acquire 90% of the exploration license application for the Yardilla project located at the state's Eastern Goldfields.

Proposed further work at the project includes reconnaissance rock and soil sampling, with mapping and drilling expected upon granting of Cullen's tenement.

The mining firm's shares surged 50% in recent trading on Thursday.
