Airbnb (ABNB) co-founder and Tesla (TSLA) board member Joe Gebbia is now helping long-time friend Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, which has been tasked with downsizing large portions of the US federal government, the New York Times reported on Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Gebbia has been a director at the electric vehicle manufacturer since 2022, according to his biography in Tesla's most recent proxy statement last April. He was seen arriving at the Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC, early Friday morning but declined to comment when a reporter tried to interview him, the Times said.
Neither Airbnb nor Tesla returned messages from MT Newswires on Friday to determine if Gebbia was working with DOGE and Musk.
