Lockton confirms Costin hire to lead UK aviation

By Rebecca Delaney

Feb 18 - (The Insurer) - Lockton has confirmed the appointment of Mark Costin as head of aviation UK, a role he will assume in March.

The Insurer first reported last week that Costin was lined up to join the broker from Insurwave.

Based in London, Costin will be responsible for leading the transformation of Lockton’s aviation offering, including enhancing its capabilities and spearheading several strategic hires.

He most recently served as commercial director at Insurwave, prior to which he served as senior partner at Piiq Risk Partners, a role he exited in 2022.

Before joining Piiq, Costin worked at Marsh for almost 18 years across a number of senior roles, including as CEO of its aviation business.

He also spent eight years at WTW, which included a stint as an executive director.

As previously reported, Costin's appointment follows a period of elevated personnel movement within the aviation market.

This publication was the first to report earlier this month that Lockton's former head of aviation Tim Liddiard, client relationship manager Andrew Cameron, executive director Nigel Baker and senior vice president Doug Ogilvie had all made the move to Cogent International as part of its expansion into aviation.

In January, The Insurer reported that UIB’s Miles Taffs was set to join Liberty Specialty Markets at the end of Q1.

Other recent moves include Beazley appointing Sebastian Lotz as DACH aviation underwriter, DAC Beachcroft naming Maria Cetta as a partner within its aviation practice and Scor P&C naming AIG’s Arta Nasradini as head of aviation.
