STMicroelectronics (STM) said Thursday that it is launching new silicon photonics and BiCMOS technologies, co-developed with Amazon.com's (AMZN) Amazon Web Services division, for optical interconnect in datacenters and artificial intelligence clusters.
STMicroelectronics said it is collaborating with Amazon Web Services on the PIC100 chip for the optical and AI markets.
STMicroelectronics said the chip's 800 gigabyte per second and 1.6 terabyte per second optical modules will be ramped up in the second half of the year.
