TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited State High School (SMA) 13 in Koja, North Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, to inspect the implementation of the free nutritious meal (MBG) program.
During the visit, Gibran distributed skincare products to the students. He mentioned that he often distributes various school supplies during school visits, always giving priority to local products.
The eldest son of the 7th Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi hoped that these items would complement the students' learning experience. "Usually we provide free haircuts, free shoes," said Gibran in a written statement from the Vice President's Secretariat. "Today it's skincare products. So they won't get acne and they can enjoy their activities more comfortably."
While inspecting the free nutritious meal program, Gibran received direct feedback from the students. He claimed that the government is always open to input and suggestions from the public to ensure the program genuinely provides maximum benefits.
"We are evaluating [the program] every day. If something is lacking, please [tell us]," added the VP.
The free nutritious meal is a priority program of President Prabowo Subianto. The program began in early January 2025 in several provinces. The National Nutrition Agency was appointed to implement the program with an allocated budget of Rp71 trillion.
