Shares of industrial and transportation companies ticked up as traders awaited more details on President Trump's tariff plans.

Overseas auto makers such as Volkswagen and Toyota Motor slid after Trump threatened to levy 25% sector tariffs on all U.S. auto imports.

Canadian Tire struck a deal worth $898.8 million to sell outdoor-and-workwear business Helly Hansen to Kontoor Brands as the Canadian retailer tightens its focus on its home market.

Nikola, the electric vehicle maker that briefly sported a market value comparable to Ford Motor, has filed for bankruptcy with plans to wind down its business.

British defense contractor BAE Systems posted double-digit sales growth for 2024, boosted by increased defense budgets in Europe and the U.S. due to Russia's war in Ukraine.
