Australian equities are poised to open higher on Tuesday as investors look forward to a rate cut by the Reserve Bank later in the day.
The central bank will also provide its statement on monetary policy, and Governor Michele Bullock will hold a press conference starting at 3:30 pm Sydney time.
In corporate news, BHP (ASX:BHP) reported Tuesday that its earnings per diluted share in the fiscal first half rose to $0.869 from $0.183 per diluted share a year earlier.
Dexus (ASX:DXS) reported Tuesday that its funds from operations (FFO) per security in the fiscal first half fell to AU$0.314, compared with the prior year's AU$0.339.
Australia's benchmark index closed down 0.2% Monday to close at 8,537.10.
