Japanese Group Aims to Court Tesla to Invest in Nissan Motor, Financial Times Reports, Citing Sources

--A high-level Japanese group has drawn up plans for Tesla to invest in Nissan Motor, after the Japanese carmaker's merger talks with peer Honda Motor fell apart, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing unnamed sources.

--Former Tesla board member Hiromichi Mizuno is leading the new proposal, which is supported by former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, the FT report said.

--Several board members at Nissan are aware of the initiative, the FT reported.

--Mizuno, Suga and Tesla didn't immediately respond to requests for comment, the FT said. Nissan declined to comment, the report said.
