Denza, the premium brand of BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has begun pre-sales of its new SUV (sport utility vehicle) model, the N9, after launching the updated N7 SUV just three days ago.
Denza announced today that pre-sales of the N9 have begun, with a price range of RMB 450,000 ($62,100) to RMB 550,000.
Those interested can pay RMB 2,000 to pre-order the model, which will give them rights and benefits including priority to buy its limited first edition.
The Denza N9 is a six-seat hybrid model with a length, width and height of 5,258 mm, 2,030 mm and 1,830 mm respectively and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
In terms of size and price, the model's main competitors include Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L9, with a starting price of RMB 409,800, and Aito's M9, with a starting price of RMB 469,800.
Denza is offering four exterior color options for the model -- black, silver, grey and green -- and two interior colors -- grey and beige.
The Denza N9 is equipped with BYD's e3 technology, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 4 seconds, according to its configuration sheet.
The e3 technology can be seen as a scaled down version of BYD's e4 technology built for ultra-luxury cars, bringing in tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor independent steering at the rear wheels. The Denza Z9GT launched on September 20 last year is the first model to feature e3 technology.
The Denza N9 boasts of a CLTC battery range of over 200 kilometers and a combined range of 1,300 kilometers on a full tank of fuel and full charge.
The model comes with DiSus-A, a body control system with air suspension released by BYD in April 2023.
Its smart driving system is BYD's God's Eye B based on the DiPilot 300 with LiDAR.
Denza's current models on sale include the N7, Z9 sedan, Z9GT hatchback, and D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
On February 18, Denza launched the 2025 N7 with the God's Eye B smart driving system as standard at a starting price of RMB 259,800 yuan.
Denza began previewing the N9 in October 2024 and saw the first production vehicles of the model roll off the line on February 8.
The brand has not mentioned an official launch date for the N9, though its sales chief Zhao Changjiang said on January 1 that the SUV's would be launched in the first quarter.
