BHP Group (ASX:BHP) will launch a $2 billion initiative to enhance its concentrator at the Escondida copper mine in Chile as part of a previously announced $10.8 billion investment plan, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing Escondida President Alejandro Tapia.
The plan, which is expected to benefit particularly the region of Antofagasta, will be submitted for environmental approval "soon," the report said.
