Nomura Stays Neutral on China Equities -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
02-27

0434 GMT - Nomura stays neutral on China equities despite some recent gains stemming from the DeepSeek and AI narrative, the investment bank's analysts say in a note. This positive narrative should continue to be supportive in the near term, as long as there are no significant actions from the U.S. on the trade front, Nomura says. Further, there have been positive signs showing that China's economy is stabilizing, it adds. However, some risks do exist, particularly as tensions flare up in the U.S.-China relationship, Nomura says. The Trump Administration has designated China as a key foreign adversary under an "America First Investment Policy." China's economy may also face stronger headwinds after 1Q once the positive impact from recent trade-in schemes to boost consumption and front-loading of exports peters out, Nomura says.
