Some RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Executive Chairman, Gregory Hayes, recently sold a substantial US$13m worth of stock at a price of US$125 per share. That sale reduced their total holding by 16% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

RTX Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by Gregory Hayes was the biggest sale of RTX shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$123. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Does RTX Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. RTX insiders own 0.09% of the company, currently worth about US$146m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
