Ioneer Has Options for Partnership Despite Sibanye Exit -- Market Talk

2306 GMT - Ioneer needs a new partner after Sibanye-Stillwater exited the Rhyolite Ridge lithium-boron JV in Nevada. Still, Canaccord Genuity says Ioneer won't be beginning from a standing start. That's because multiple parties were assessing an investment when it agreed to the Sibanye deal, analyst Timothy Hoff says. "It's worth noting Ioneer has offtake agreements with Ford/SK On, Toyota/Panasonic and EcoPro," Canaccord says. "In addition to the offtake, it also signed an agreement with EcoPro in late 2023 which will investigate the commercialization of the clay resource hosted at Rhyolite Ridge." Canaccord adds that Rio Tinto wants to grow its lithium exposure. "We also think the focus on local U.S. derived supply chains could help attract well capitalized JV partners," it says.
