HSBC Holdings (HKG:0005) bought back 6,096,215 shares in Hong Kong and London on Thursday, according to a Friday bourse filing.
The British lender repurchased 3,134,615 shares in the UK at a weighted average price of 8.86 pounds sterling and 2,961,600 shares in Hong Kong at a weighted average price of HK$89.69.
Since the program started, HSBC has repurchased 55,453,135 shares for a total consideration of about $637.4 million.
Upon cancellation of the repurchased shares in the UK, the bank will have 17,798,639,512 ordinary shares with voting rights.
