Indonesia's Ministry of Industry has issued domestic component level certificates for 20 Apple (AAPL, Financial) products, including the latest iPhone 16, allowing them to be legally sold in the country, according to a Friday news release. The certificates include 11 for mobile phone products and nine for tablet devices.

The ministry's Domestic Product Development Center signed the TKDN certificates after Apple resolved defaults from 2020 to 2023 by meeting regulations outlined in Industry Minister Regulation No. 29 of 2017. Apple must secure a postal and telecommunications certificate from the Ministry of Communication and Digital to proceed.

The additional certificate is essential for obtaining an import Product Registration Mark (TPP) from the Ministry of Industry, which is required for IMEI and Import Approval from the Ministry of Trade. Earlier, the Industry Minister confirmed that negotiations with Apple concluded successfully, paving the way for renewed certification.

The iPhone 16, launched on Sept. 20, 2024, was blocked from the market for failing to meet the 40% local component requirement. Only products surpassing this benchmark qualify for sale.
