By combining chip design, manufacturing, and packaging technologies, the alliance seeks to enhance India's semiconductor production capacity. According to the organizations, they want to concentrate on "Made in India" solutions while simultaneously attending to worldwide demand.

The contract follows Tata Electronics's 2024 agreement with PSMC to set up semiconductor production in India. The most recent project broadens that endeavor by using AI-powered sensor technologies and display semiconductor knowledge from Himax.

Combining the individual skills of the firms would help Tata Electronics CEO and Managing Director Randhir Thakur create "differentiated solutions" for the display semiconductor industry. According to Himax CEO Jordan Wu, the action is likely to improve supply chain resilience and fits India's rising position as a center for electronics production. According to PSMC President Martin Chu, the semiconductor manufacturing capabilities of the business are positioned to help India grow.

Subsidiary of India's Tata Group, Tata Electronics specializes in semiconductor assembly and electronics manufacture. Based in Taiwan, PSMC is among the biggest pure-play semiconductor foundries in the world.
