Tesla Stock Is Tumbling And Dave Portnoy Is Calling Out Elon Musk: 'How Far Does TSLA Stock Have To Crash Before Elon Goes Back To Work?'

Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock has been in a free fall, and Dave Portnoy is venting his frustrations. The Barstool Sports founder took to X to ask some blunt questions, including one aimed directly at Elon Musk.

In his tweet, Portnoy said, “If I'm gonna be fair these questions needs to be asked today. Why is the release of the Epstein list always a shit show? What's the point of booting out illegals and criminals while somehow becoming a safe haven for the Tate brothers? Why is Crypto in the toilet if Trump is crypto king? How far does [TSLA] stock have to crash before Elon goes back to work?”

Tesla Stock Falling

Over the last 30 days, Tesla’s stock has dropped more than 30%. This slide has investors worried, and Portnoy’s tweet is echoing what many are thinking: Is Musk too distracted to focus on Tesla?

The American automaker saw a drop of over 50% in new car registrations in January from   the same time last year, even as overall electric vehicle sales in the region grew by 37.3%. That's a bad sign for Tesla, as competitors like BYD and Volkswagen are gaining ground.

Elon Musk has been deeply involved in politics, especially with his work at the Department of Government Efficiency. A Morning Consult survey found that 32% of U.S. consumers wouldn't consider buying a Tesla, up from 27% last year. That means Musk's political alignment might be costing Tesla customers.

Other Issues

Portnoy is frustrated by the continued secrecy and confusion surrounding last week's release of a list of individuals associated with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Authorities have only released redacted documents, leaving many to wonder if influential figures are being shielded. The situation has sparked renewed discussions about transparency in government and whether justice is truly being served.

Another issue he brought up was how the U.S. government is sending some undocumented people out of the country while allowing Andrew and Tristan Tate to stay. The Tate brothers are facing charges of human trafficking and organized crime in Romania, but they recently arrived in Florida and even Gov. Ron DeSantis said they shouldn't be here.

Portnoy also turned his attention to cryptocurrency, questioning why digital assets continue to struggle despite former President Donald Trump branding himself as a champion of the industry. Investors who expected stronger support and regulatory clarity under Trump's leadership are watching as crypto markets falter, with Bitcoin and others in freefall, leading to doubts about whether sentiment alone can drive the sector's recovery.

While some dismiss his comments as outspoken ranting, others see them as echoing widespread concerns that major institutions and leaders are failing to address pressing issues.
