TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives’ (DPR) Commission III held a hearing on Wednesday with Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah to discuss several high-profile corruption cases. Initially scheduled for 1:00 p.m., the meeting was ultimately held behind closed doors.

Before the session began, Commission III chairman Rano Al Fath asked participants whether the meeting should be open or closed. A Golkar Party representative supported a closed session, while another participant suggested an open discussion unless sensitive matters arose.

Rano argued that many of the cases under discussion were still in the investigation stage, warranting a more confidential setting. “A closed session allows for a more detailed discussion,” he said.

When asked again, representatives from Gerindra, Golkar, PDIP, PKB, and the Democratic Party unanimously supported a closed session. However, the National Mandate Party (PAN) advocated for an open discussion, with only sensitive topics addressed privately.

Following the majority decision, Rano ruled in favor of a closed-door session. “If there are general matters that can be shared publicly, we will provide updates later,” he said before officially starting the meeting.
