SK Hynix (KRX:000660) plans to complete the acquisition of Intel's NAND flash and solid-state drive (SSD) segment and settle the remaining $2.24 billion of the total purchase price as early as March, Pulse News reported Monday, citing sources from the semiconductor industry.

The final payment of the $8.84 billion total purchase price will result in the memory chip manufacturer gaining control of Intel's design and manufacturing-linked IP, research and development personnel, and operations of the Dalian, China-based NAND flash facility, the report said.

SK Hynix purchased the Intel business in 2021, with the NAND flash unit directly merged into the company and the California-based SSD segment turning into the wholly owned subsidiary Solidigm, according to the report.

The successful completion of the purchase and integration of Solidigm's technologies should boost SK Hynix's competitive position in the global NAND and SSD markets, sources told the news agency.
