Blade Air Mobility (BLDE) said Monday it was partnering with privately-held Skyports Infrastructure to begin a pilot program expected to expand Blade's existing by-the-seat helicopter transfer service between its heliport in downtown Manhattan and JFK International Airport in New York City.

The service is expected to begin next month, the company said. In addition to flying passengers transferring to and from flights at JFK, the new service will also serve people in Queens and Long Island traveling to or from the southern tip of Manhattan near Wall Street, Blade said.

The pilot program is expected to gather data to determine consumer demand, flier experience and logistics specific to the downtown heliport and eventually support the launch of electric vertical aircraft service from the facility, according to the company.

Blade shares were sinking almost 3% in Monday's pre-trade.
