Baker Hughes (BKR) will provide NextDecade (NEXT) with gas turbines and refrigerant compressors alongside maintenance services for Trains 4 through 8 at the Rio Grande liquefied natural gas facility under a newly signed framework agreement, the companies said Tuesday.
The companies said NextDecade is advancing plans for Trains 4 and 5 and expects to reach final investment decisions and begin construction, subject to regulatory approvals, contracts, commercial agreements, and financing. The company is also developing Trains 6 through 8, which would add about 18 million tonnes per year of liquefaction capacity, Baker Hughes and NextDecade said.
Baker Hughes expects to receive equipment orders as the project moves forward, according to the joint statement.
Shares of Baker Hughes were up 1.5% in recent Tuesday premarket activity, while NextDecade stock rose nearly 3%.
