Sparc Technologies Starts Construction of South Australia Pilot Plant; Shares Down 8%

Sparc Technologies (ASX:SPN) started construction of Sparc Hydrogen's photocatalytic water splitting pilot plant at the University of Adelaide's Roseworthy Campus in South Australia, as part of the development of next-generation green hydrogen production, according to a Wednesday filing with the Australian bourse.

The pilot plant commissioning is anticipated to occur in the middle of the year, the filing said.

Sparc Hydrogen is a joint venture with the University of Adelaide and Fortescue (ASX:FMG), focusing on developing green hydrogen technology through photocatalytic water splitting, requiring only sunlight, water, and a photocatalyst, according to the filing.

Sparc Technologies shares fell nearly 8% in afternoon trade Wednesday.
