BP (BP) said it stopped a gas leak at its Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project off West Africa, multiple news outlets reported Thursday and Friday, citing the company.
"The A02 well is one of the four wells for GTA, and this situation had no immediate impact on ongoing production activities from the remaining wells," the company reportedly told Bloomberg News Friday.
The leak, detected on Feb. 19, had raised concerns about its impact on marine life and coastal areas in Senegal and Mauritania, according to the report.
Barrons reported that BP said "the tree cap was installed, and we can confirm that the bubble release was visually observed to stop" on March 12.
BP did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
