Samsung Electronics announced a collaboration with NVIDIA (NVDA, Financials) to advance AI-powered radio access network technology. The partnership integrates NVIDIA's AI computing platform with Samsung's virtualized radio access network to expand AI adoption in mobile networks.

Late 2024 saw Samsung test AI-RAN compatibility in their research lab, verifying that NVIDIA's accelerated computing platform fits Samsung's O-RAN-compliant vRAN. The proof-of-concept showed, according to the corporations, how well artificial intelligence may raise network performance and efficiency.Samsung presented at Mobile World Congress 2025 its AI-based technologies including non-uniform modulation and physical uplink shared channel estimate. These demonstrations were supported by the AI-RAN Alliance, which comprises academic and industrial partners.Using NVIDIA's Grace CPU and GPU-based AI platform with Compute Unified Device Architecture technologies, Samsung and NVIDIA want to investigate more AI-RAN applications. From rural regions to densely populated installations, the businesses stated these developments would maximize AI-RAN for different network conditions. The firm said it is guiding the acceptance of AI-powered telephony throughout the sector.Senior vice president for telecom at NVIDIA Ronnie Vasishta said that AI-RAN technology drives new AI-driven applications, boosts network performance and efficiency. Furthermore, accelerating AI-native mobile network development will be Samsung's vRAN technology and NVIDIA's AI computing, he said.Samsung claimed that deployment of artificial intelligence across all network levels is made simpler by its end-to-end network design. The firm said that the technology lets operators improve network infrastructure for other uses, like data processing, thereby increasing their competitiveness.
