The ASX has been up as much as 0.45% at 7,783 points, breaking its Week 11 losing streak on the back of a rally in gold stocks.

Materials has been the best performing sector, up 1.85%, followed by Utilities, up 1.4%, and Industrials, up 0.7%. Energy has been the worst performer, down 0.9%, followed by Telecommunication, down 0.33%, and Information Technology, down 0.25%.

Race Oncology (ASX:RAC) has been the most watched on HotCopper forums today after the company received ethics approval for its Phase One trial in adult solid tumour patients.

Also heavily discussed has been Liontown Resources (ASX:LTR); the long-followed battery minerals producer today released its half year results. The company has maintained a strong cash position with $193 million in the bank.

Also trending: Tivan (ASX:TIV), which was awarded copper-gold exploration licenses in Timor-Leste. The approval has seen Tivan jump 8.5% today.
