An Arthur Streeton painting depicting a hallowed location in the history of Australian art, and a canvas that rocketed a 21-year-old Brett Whiteley towards his eventual fame, have both come out of the woodwork for a major art auction to be held in Sydney on April 8.
In the case of the Streeton, the painting titled Sirius Cove has been held by the same family since it was painted in 1895 – an extraordinary 130 years.
