March 20 - Tesla (TSLA, Financial) is recalling 46,096 Cybertrucks in the United States after identifying an exterior trim defect that could detach while driving.

  • Warning! GuruFocus has detected 3 Warning Signs with NVDA.

The recall affects all model year 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks produced from Nov. 13, 2023, to Feb. 27, 2025. The vehicles feature a cosmetic cant rail, a component combining an electrocoated steel stamping with a stainless-steel panel bonded by structural adhesive, that may delaminate, raising the risk of a crash.

Tesla service centers will replace the defective cant rail assembly at no charge to owners. This follows previous recalls involving Cybertruck models: about 27,000 units were recalled in Oct. 2024 over a software glitch delaying rearview camera displays, and nearly 4,000 units in Apr. 2024 due to concerns over unintended acceleration from the accelerator pedal.

Production of the Cybertruck was pushed to 2023 after it was first introduced as a concept by Tesla in 2019. Yet the vehicle has managed to face various challenges, supply chain constraints and manufacturing hurdles.
