Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) said it began drilling for a total depth of 1,200 meters using a combination of mud-rotary and diamond drilling techniques on two major copper-gold targets at the Thomson project in New South Wales, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The program is expected to take up to six weeks to complete, the filing said.
It sent a previously unsampled drill core of over 1,000 meters for assays, which are expected to be returned in late March or early April.
The firm's shares rose 10% in recent trading on Wednesday.
