The European Commission approved a joint venture between subsidiaries of China's Minmetals (HKG:0230) and Meiwa (TYO:8103) and Japan's Toyota Motor (TYO:7203) under the EU Merger Regulation, according to a Friday statement by the regulator.
The venture will focus on lithium-ion battery recycling.
The commission said the deal poses no competition concerns due to its limited impact on the European Economic Area.
