United Airlines (UAL) said Tuesday it has started construction of a new $177 million ground service equipment maintenance facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
The airline said it is also opening new $16 million technical operations training center at the airport.
United said it expects the 140,000-square-foot maintenance facility to open in 2027, while the new training center will support its plan to take delivery of "hundreds" of new aircraft by 2032.
The carrier expects its expansion in Houston to create 4,000 construction jobs.
United shares were nearly 1% higher in recent premarket trading.
