Alibaba Group Holding (BABA) has entered into a collaboration with German automaker BMW to develop artificial intelligence for cars in China, the two companies said on Wednesday, according to Alibaba's news website Alizila.
The collaboration calls for BMW to integrate a jointly developed AI engine based on a cockpit technology from Alibaba-backed Banma into BMW's Neue Klasse cars produced in China starting next year, the companies said.
The Neue Klasse models will initially feature two new AI capabilities for Chinese car users: the Car Genius and the Travel Companion, the companies said.
