Rocket Lab USA (RKLB) said late Thursday it has been selected for an up to $5.6 billion contract from the US Space Force for its National Security Space Launch phase 3 lane 1 program.

The contract has a five-year ordering period that will run through June 2029, with the potential for an additional five years.

Shares of Rocket Lab USA were more than 9% higher in after-hours activity Thursday.
