Investigators on Leave: KPK Postpones Febri Diansyah's Questioning

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has postponed the scheduled questioning of Febri Diansyah, legal counsel to Hasto Kristiyanto, Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), originally set for today. Febri was summoned as a witness in a bribery case involving Wahyu Setiawan, a former member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) from 2017 to 2022.

Febri arrived at KPK headquarters at 11:37 a.m. local time, submitted his Identity Card (KTP), and received a visitor pass. However, the former KPK spokesperson was informed by the investigation unit that several investigators were on leave or otherwise engaged, leading to the deferral of his questioning.

“With several investigators on leave and others possibly occupied with different tasks, my examination will be rescheduled,” Febri said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Thursday, March 27.

The session is now expected to occur after Eid al-Fitr. Despite the delay, Febri emphasized that his attendance reflected his commitment and willingness to cooperate with the KPK.

Investigators had initially scheduled Febri’s testimony in connection with an alleged bribery scheme tied to the interim replacement (PAW) of a House of Representatives (DPR) member for the 2019-2024 term. The KPK has named several suspects in this case, including Harun Masiku and Donny Tri Istiqomah (DTI), whose investigations remain ongoing.

Meanwhile, the trial of Hasto Kristiyanto, another defendant in the case, continues at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor). Others involved, including Wahyu Setiawan, Agustina Tio Fridelina, and PDIP member Saiful Bahri, have already been convicted and served their sentences.

The investigation into Harun Masiku stalled after he evaded a KPK sting operation (OTT) on January 8, 2020, and went into hiding. By January 2025, the PDIP politician will have been a fugitive for five years. Harun was targeted for allegedly bribing Wahyu Setiawan to secure a DPR seat. Since his escape, his whereabouts remain unknown, with rumors suggesting he could be hiding in Cambodia or still in Indonesia.
