Luminar Technologies (LAZR) said Thursday it's launching a collaboration with Caterpillar (CAT) to integrate light detection and ranging, or LiDAR, technology into Caterpillar's autonomous machines.

The LiDAR technology will be launched with Cat Command for hauling, Luminar said, adding the Cat off-highway truck will have two Iris LiDAR with an integration system designed only for Caterpillar.

Financial details weren't provided.

Luminar shares jumped nearly 19% in recent trading, and Caterpillar was down 0.7%.
