Energy stocks rose late Tuesday afternoon with the NYSE Energy Sector Index gaining 0.6% and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) adding 0.5%.
The Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index increased 0.3%, while the Dow Jones US Utilities Index dropped 1.7%.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil declined 0.2% to $69 a barrel, and global benchmark Brent rose 0.1% to $73.05 a barrel. Henry Hub natural gas futures fell 1.4% to $3.858 per 1 million BTU.
In corporate news, Oklo (OKLO) is well-positioned to capitalize on growing demand for nuclear energy with the artificial-intelligence revolution in its early stage, Wedbush said. Oklo shares still fell 8.6%.
Shell (SHEL) will raise shareholder distributions to 40% to 50% of cash flow from operations from 30% to 40%, while keeping its 4% annual dividend rate. The shares rose 1.2%.
Prairie Operating (PROP) shares dropped 11% after the company priced an underwritten public offering of $38.5 million in stock at $4.50 apiece.
