March 28 - Intel (INTC, Financial) secured approximately $1.9 billion upon completing the sale of its NAND memory technology and manufacturing business to South Korea's SK hynix.

The transaction, valued at around $9 billion, was executed in two phases. The initial closing, which included the sale of Intel's NAND solid-state drive business and a fabrication facility in Dalian, China, occurred in December 2021. The second and final closing took place on March 27, according to a regulatory filing.

As part of the deal's conclusion, a wafer supply agreement established at the first closing between Intel, SK hynix, and affiliated entities has now been terminated.

SK hynix dominates the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market, with competitors including Samsung Electronics (SSNLF, Financial) and Micron Technology (MU, Financial). It remains a key supplier of these advanced memory chips to Nvidia (NVDA, Financial).
