0857 ET - Canadian Pacific Kansas City may actually benefit from the newly imposed global levies on US trading partners, if they persist. While uncertainty remains, BMO's Fadi Chamoun says in a report that the announcement which maintains current USMCA exemptions for Canada and Mexico is "better than feared," despite 25% tariffs on non-US auto content imported to the US from Mexico and Canada. While this will be negative for railroad auto exposure, higher tariffs on everyone else could spur North American goods movement. "Higher tariffs on rest of the world have the potential to stimulate North American originating/terminating freight, which could benefit CPKC," Chamoun says. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
