The US's trading partners are gearing up to retaliate against the sweeping tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on Wednesday, The Standard reported Thursday.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spoke against the impact of the tariffs on Australian beef, while Liberal Party leader Peter Dutton said he will fight Trump to advance the nation's interests "in a heartbeat," the report said.

For his part, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said the tariffs could hurt world trade and "could have a big impact on each country's trade activity," according to The Standard.

China, however, highlighted how farmers have benefited from economic ties with the US, in what the news outlet calls an appeal to cool the tensions, the report said.
