Insurance Australia Group (ASX:IAG) said its unit NRMA Insurance received more than 18,100 claims for wild weather damage throughout summer for weather events, according to a Friday statement from the insurer.
The claims were followed by Cyclone Alfred, which caused widespread damage across two Australian states and around 95,000 claims across the insurance industry, per the statement.
Further, NRMA Insurance's new research showed that 16% of Australians experienced wild weather damage, of which 8% saw damage to their home, 6% had damage to their vehicle, and 2% experienced both, the insurer said.
